[edit] Game History

[edit] Super Mario series

[edit] Mario Bros.

Sidesteppers from Mario Bros.

Mario Bros. would see the first appearance of the Sidestepper. They would be the second enemy encountered in the game. They would emerge from pipes and walk to the bottom of the screen. When they are hit from below, they will become angry and speed up. Mario and Luigi will need to hit them from below for a second time to flip them over so they can run into them and defeat them. If they're left flipped over long enough, they will turn blue and flip over before moving even faster. And if they're left alone a second time, then they will turn pink and flip over. On the last phase, they will be automatically pink. Sidesteppers would appear in all remakes of Mario Bros.

[edit] Super Mario Bros. Special

They would appear in Super Mario Bros. Special under the name of Chokichoki, which means "Snip-snip".

[edit] Mario Clash

Mario Clash would have them appear coming out of pipes and scuttle sideways. They could only be defeated by being hit by a shell or turn them on their side and hit them with another shell.

[edit] Super Mario Advance

During a small cutscene before Clawgrip in Super Mario Advance, one can be seen in the cutscene as it turns into a Clawgrip by one of the magic bubbles from Wart.

[edit] Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

They would make a cameo appearance during the battle with Hermie III in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. They could be seen running in the background.

[edit] Mario Kart Series

Sidesteppers would make their first appearance in the Mario Kart Series in Mario Kart Wii. They could be found on beach stages like Shy Guy Peach and Palm Shore where they would walk from left to right. If a player runs into them, it will make the spin out. They can be defeated by being hit by a shell, star, or a bomb.

They would return in Mario Kart 7 on Koopa Troopa Beach and Wario's Galleon.

[edit] Mario Power Tennis

In Mario Power Tennis, there would be a court based on Mario Bros. called the Mario Classic Court. It would use original game's sprites like the Sidestepper. They would occasionally walk across the court to trip a character.

[edit] Super Smash Bros. Brawl

They would appear on the Mario Bros. stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They would walk out of the pipes from the top of the screen and make their way to the bottom. They could be hit from below to flip them open then used at weapons to be thrown at.
