Rocket Engine

Super Mario Bros. 3

Rocket Engines are hazards that were first introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3 on the Airship levels. They would look similar to Bill Blasters though they would emit flames instead of shooting Bullet Bills. They will emit fire for only a few seconds before they stop and Mario has a chance to pass by them. They will usually be mounted on walls, floors or the ceiling and emit fire from any direction. Tanooki Mario in statue form can temporary disable the flames.

They would make an appearance on the Airship Fortress in Mario Kart DS. When they hit a player, they will spin the player out of control and lose some of their time. They also appear in a mission where coins have to be collected and if the player hits one, they lose.

Rocket Engines also appear in New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, They would remain in place in New Super Mario Bros., while they could turn in the sequel.

Four Rocket Engines can be found on the Saucer Planet of Good Egg Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. They shoot out a small explosion and Mario will get hurt if he is standing directly over it.

Rocket Engines also appear in Super Mario 3D Land. These Rocket Engines will emit blue flames instead of red flames. They only appear in Airship levels.

They will also appear in Hazard Hold in Mario Party 9 that act as obstacles that can be controlled.

Rocket Engines will appear in New Super Mario Bros. 2.
