Kalamari Desert is the final track of the Mushroom Cup in Mario Kart 64. It would return in Mario Kart 7 as the first course for the Leaf Cup.

[edit] Mario Kart 64

This track contains railroad tracks with a train passing by. As well Pokeys are another hazard. In 1-Player Mode, the trains will be pulling coaches, while in multiplayer, there are no coaches. They can be avoided by stopping or using a Starman or Boo. The sand will make the drivers kart go really slow and if you go to far, you will go out-of-bounds. Item Boxes only appear three times: at the beginning of the first railway crossing, at the second railway crossing, and halfway after the second railway crossing. Kalamari Desert is owned by Luigi and Yoshi.

[edit] Instruction Manuel Description

The trick is to time it so that the steam locomotive that crosses the course won't block you. If the train is crossing in front of you, you should temporarily stop. It's very dangerous to enter the train tunnel, even if it is a shortcut...

[edit] Mario Kart 7

It would return as the first course for the Leaf Cup. Two new shortcuts would be added to the course as a ramp would be added near the end of the first corner and then before the third corner of the track there is a glider pad to glide over the train. Several wooden ramps would also be added to the track and be used for tricks for small boosts.
