The Zap Orb was first introduced in Mario Party 6 as a roadblock Orb. It could be bought at an Orb Shop for 15 coins. Once placed on the board, the next player that passes it will lose 5 coins along with 5 extra coins per space that the player moves on the board for the remainder of his or her turn. The effects of this Orb can be avoided through the use of a Metal Mushroom Orb at the beginning of a player's turn. The Zap Orb would return in Mario Party 7 with the same basic mechanics. The only thing that changed was that the victim would lose just 3 coins instead of 5 coins.
