World 4 is the fourth World in Super Mario 3D World. This is mainly a canyon themed world. The World contains five main courses, two Enemy Blockade courses, a Mystery House course, and a Castle. There's also a Sprixie House, which rewards you with a Stamp. As with previous Worlds, there are multiple coins, Question Blocks, and 1-Up Mushrooms on the map. The boss encountered in this world is Boss Broulder. Defeating that creature will free the Orange Sprixie Princess, who will create a Clear Pipe, sending you to World 5.

[edit] World 4-1, Ant Trooper Hill

Ant Trooper Hill

Ant Trooper Hill is the first course of World 4 in Super Mario 3D World. This course is in a canyon setting. The most common enemies art the Ant Troopers, which appear in various sizes. There's a section in a course that's filled with spikes and you're required to progress through by jumping on the large Ant Troopers, who will be moving across the spikes. Completng this course will open the path to World 4-2, Piranha Creeper Creek.

  • Green Star 1: The Super Bell is required to obtain the first Green Star. When you exit the tunnel, instead of walking across the narrow walkway with the Ant Troopers, continue going right and climb up the nearby wall, where the Green Star awaits.
  • Green Star 2: While riding on the giant Ant Trooper, you'll approach a Green Warp Pipe. Head inside and in the next room, carefully bounce on the Ant Troopers to reach the second Green Star. Alternatively, use the Super Bell to climb the wall and grab it.
  • Green Star 3: It'll be in sight while you're riding the giant Ant Trooper. Wait until you are under the star than do a high bounce to reach the final Green Star.

Near the end of the tunnel at the beginning of the course, you'll see the stamp on top of a rectangular block, that's surrounded by Ant Troopers. Jump off of one of the Ant Troopers to reach it.

Piranha Creeper Creek

Piranha Creeper Creek is the second course of World 4 in Super Mario 3D World. This course is set in a forest that's surrounded my poisonous liquid, which will result in an instant death if you come into contact with it. Throughout the course, you must get across by using the small moving, circular platforms, while avoiding the Piranha Creepers. There's also an underground section that's filled with Piranha Creepers as well. Clearing this course will open the path to World 4-A, Brolder Blockade.

  • Green Star 1: In the underground section, you'll encounter a Mystery Box. Inside, jump on top of the four Piranha Creepers to reach the first Green Star.
  • Green Star 2: After the checkpoint, dive into the nearby pool. The second Green Star is at the bottom of the pool.
  • Green Star 3: Near the end of the course, you'll see a Green Star Ring on a wooden platform. Touch it and collect the 8 Green Coins and you'll be rewarded with the final Green Star.

After the pool, you'll see a Piranha Creeper emerging from the wall on the right. Bounce off of it and you'll reach a hidden area containing the Stamp.

Brolder Blockade

Brolder Blockade is the first Enemy Blockade encountered in World 4, and the fourth Enemy Blockade in Super Mario 3D World. You are on a rocky platform surrounded by a pit of lava. The goal is to defeat the four Brolders. They are defeated by jumping on them, then tossing them into the lava. A solo Brolder will appear and after defeating it, the remaining three will appear simultaneously. Completing this Blockade will earn you one Green Star and open the path to both World 4-3, Beep Block Skyway, and World 4-4, Big Bounce Byway.

Beep Block Skyway

Beep Block Skyway is the third course of World 4 in Super Mario 3D World. This course is of a space setting. You must get through the course using the Beep Blocks. The Beep Blocks alternate between blue and red blocks to the beat of the in-game music. Therefore the blocks can assist you, as well as hinder you, since they will disappear and reappear periodically. The Double Cherry makes another appearance in this course. The most common enemies in this course are the Boomerang Bros. Clearing this course will open the path to World 4-5, Spike's Lost City.

  • Green Star 1: At the beginning before the first Warp Box, wait until the Blue Beep Blocks appear. Then quickly grab the first Green Star before the blocks disappear.
  • Green Star 2: Before you go down the long slide, head into the green Warp Pipe towards the left. Inside, activate the P Switch and collect all of the Blue Coins within the time limit and the second Green Star will be revealed.
  • Green Star 3: The Double Cherry is required if you're playing solo. After the long slide, you'll see two P Switches. With your clone, stand on the two P Switches simultaneously to reveal the final Green Star. If you're playing the game on multiplayer, two of the players can simply stand on the P Switch.

The Double Cherry is required if you're playing solo. Near the checkpoint, you'll see a platform with the number "4" on it. Stand on it with the other 3 clones and it will activate, rising you up to the Stamp.

Big Bounce Byway

Big Bounce Byway is the fourth course of World 4 in Super Mario 3D World. The first portion, you start out on the grasslands that are filled with the orange bouncy platforms, which are required to progress. During the second half you ride the large bouncy platform through the skies to the Warp Box, sending you to the end of the course. The enemies in this course are the Biddybuds, Spinies, and Hop Chops. Clearing this course will open the path to World 4-5, Spike's Lost City.

  • Green Star 1: After getting through the first set of bouncy platforms, defeat the Hop Chops and use the one that turns into a spring to boost you up to the first Green Star.
  • Green Star 2: Grab that same Spring and take it past the checkpoint. Take it to the wall in the back and use it to reach the two bouncy platforms above. Bounce between the two platforms as they rise up and you will be able to grab the second Green Star.
  • Green Star 3: Later into the course, you'll encounter a Mystery Box. Inside, defeat the Hop Chops and use the one that turns into the spring to boost you up to the final Green Star.

Spike's Lost City

Spike's Lost City is the fifth course of World 4 in Super Mario 3D World. This course is in a ruins setting and is filled with numerous Spikes, who toss spiked objects of various sizes towards you. There are many sections, where you have to platform your way while avoiding the spike pillars. There's also a few Galoombas that appear as well. Clearing this course will open the path to World 4-Castle, Lava Rock Lair.

  • Green Star 1: After the first long slope, you'll see a Warp Pipe. Inside the next room, hit all of the switches to reveal the first Green Star.
  • Green Star 2: The Super Bell is required. After going up the slope following the checkpoint, climb up the curved wall on the left to reach the second Green Star.
  • Green Star 3: Near the end while making your way across the swinging platforms, keep going towards the top left, where the final Green Star lies.

[edit] World 4-B, Fire Bros. Hideout #1

Fire Bros Hideout #1

Fire Bros Hideout #1 is the first Fire Bros hideout, second Enemy Blockade of World 4, and the fifth Enemy Blockade overall in Super Mario 3D World. You are in an arena with three Fire Bros, who you must defeat. Defeating the three Fire Bros will earn you one Green Star.

Lava Rock Lair

Lava Rock Lair is the Castle course of World 4 in Super Mario 3D World. In this Castle, you are traversing among the many rocky platforms surrounded by a pit of lava, which results in an instant kill when touched. The main enemies are the Goombas and the Brolders. You must also avoid the fire sticks and the Podoboos that appear from the lava. Near the end, with the long bridge, all of the enemies and obstacles, as mentioned will appear, making it challenging to reach the end. At the end of the course, you will encounter an enormous sized Brolder.


Boss Brolder

The enormous sized Brolder serves as the boss of this World. The battle begins with the creature rolling towards you for a period of time. Afterwards, he'll slam on the ground, causing three normal sized Brolders to appear. Jump on one of them and toss it at the giant Brolder, damaging him. The Boss Brolder will suddenly launch many flaming rocks in all directions. The process of the boss will repeat. It takes three hits to defeat this boss, which results in freeing the Orange Sprixie Princess, who will open the path to World 5.

  • Green Star 1: Grab one of the Brolders at the start of the course and toss it at one of the P Switches, while you stand on the other one. The bridge will lower itself, allowing you to grab the first Green Star.
  • Green Star 2: After emerging from the Clear Pipe, head inside of the Mystery Box. Inside, you'll see 3 P Switches and two Brolders. Grab both of the Brolders and toss them on two of the P Switches, while you stand on the third P Switch. You'll be rewarded with the second Green Star.
  • Green Star 3: In the bridge section, you'll see the final Green Star above a pit. Grab the Brolder and toss it at the Green Star.

Before the long bride, climb up the wall on the left to the first ledge, then climb up the rest of the wall to reach the Stamp.

[edit] World 4-Mystery House, Mystery House Mad Dash

Mystery House Mad Dash

Mystery House Mad Dash is the second Mystery House you will encounter in Super Mario 3D World. You must complete 10 challenges, each within 10 seconds to move on. With this Mystery House Challenge, you must make it to the goal, where the Green Star is located, as quickly as you can. Each challenge you complete will reward you with a Green Star, giving you ten in total if you complete them all. If you fail any of the 10 challenges, you will be able to keep the Green Stars that you've earned, but you must repeat all of the challenges regardless, to collect the remaining ones.

  • Green Star 1: Use the 4 spring panels to make your way to the top.
  • Green Star 2: Run along the sandy path while avoiding the Ant Troopers.
  • Green Star 3: Run towards the Green Star, without letting the large Bullet Bill from behind catch up to you.
  • Green Star 4: Run along the straight path while avoiding the Spikes, who are tossing spiked objects.
  • Green Star 5: Run across the very narrow bridge.
  • Green Star 6: Use the Boost Pad to make it pass the set of Thwomps.
  • Green Star 7: Run across the three swinging platforms.
  • Green Star 8: Run along the grasslands while avoiding the numerous Goombas.
  • Green Star 9: Run across the very narrow bridge while avoiding Bullet Bills.
  • Green Star 10: Run across the collapsing platforms while avoiding the two Spikes, who are tossing objects from the other side.
