World 4 is the fourth world in Super Mario 3D Land. It has green fields in the background with mushrooms seen in the background and close to the levels. The boss for this world in Pom Pom, who can be found in the Airship at the end of the world.

World 4-1.

World 4-1 takes place on a grass level, in front of Mario is a couple of Piranha Plant enemies and Binoculars. The next area, there is a Koopa Troopa with stacked Goombas in the small pond(the first Star Medal can be found here) before traversing up to the top where Mario will encounter some Biddybuds and a Rainbow Jump Block that will take Mario to Coin Heaven. Mario will land at the Midway Flag and can either take the Cannon or continue to a bridge of Biddybuds that will give Mario a 1-Up if he uses the Koopa Shell. Past the bridge there is a Red Ring and a Chain Chomp that can be avoided while Mario can continue on up the trampoline box where there is Piranha Plants, Spiky Plants, and Para-Biddybuds that will try to prevent Mario from reaching the Flagpole at the top of the level. Mario can use the trampoline box to reach the top of the Flagpole.

  • Star Medal 2: End of Coin Heaven.
  • Star Medal 3: At the midway, use cannon to get it.

World 4-2

The second level of the fourth world is another underground level. The main feature for this level is the Red Exclamation Block that will have big blocks appear for a period of time so Mario can make it farther in the level. It starts off at the bottom of the level with stacked Goombas and Black Piranha Plants. Mario will have to use the Red ! Blocks to make more blocks appear that will help with reach the trampoline boxes that will take him to another stack of Goombas before another red block that sprouts more blocks. These blocks will help Mario make his way up to a trampoline that takes him higher up in the level. Mario can use the ! Block to use the Blocks to get a Star Medal or he can continue on towards the left where he will come to a segment of the level where he has to use the trampoline boxes to get to the Warp Pipe. This warp pipe will take Mario to the Flagpole and he can use the ! Block to help him touch the top of the Flagpole.

  • Star Medal 1: Hidden above the second Black Piranha Plant.
  • Star Medal 2: Tanooki Mario is needed to get this. Right after the Rectangle Question Block, continue to go right and drop down the big whole.
  • Star Medal 3: Using a ! Block to sprout Blocks onto up it to wall jump up to the star medal.

World 4-3

World 4-3 can only be unlocked by having 30 Star Medals. The main feature of this level is the rotating platforms, Mario will need to be careful when walking on them so he doesn't fall off. After the first three rotating platforms, Mario will be back on land with many Brick Blocks, a Fake Block and two [{Question Block]]s with one containing a Super Leaf. The next island has a Rainbow Jump Block that Mario can take to get to the Coin Heaven or he can continue on where there is a Red ! Block that will get him to a Binoculars and a Midway Flag. Using the Binoculars will have Toad throw a Star Medal on the platforms in front of Mario. On the rotating platforms, there is a Red Ring that can give out a free life if Mario collects all of the Red Coins. From there, Mario can continue to use the rotating platforms to get to the Flagpole.

  • Star Medal 2: At the end of Coin Heaven.
  • Star Medal 3:Using the binoculars to find Toad, he will throw a Star Medal close to Mario.

World 4-4.

World 4-4 is the first Haunted House level of the game, Mario starts off at the haunted house with torches lit on both sides of Mario. Taking a few steps into the haunted house, he will come across a Boo, who will hide its face if Mario is facing him. The next part, will see platforms appear over the dark pit that Mario can cross. They only appear when he gets close to them and he will get near a spot where nine platforms appear and there is a P-Switch that makes lines of coins appear. From there Mario can take the moving platform to get to the Warp Box that will take him to a circle of Boo-like enemies that hold a Star Medal. Mario will have to cross more platforms before making his way to the Midway Flag with five Question Blocks, with one containing a Star inside that will help Mario defeat all of the Boos while he makes his way to the Warp Box. This Warp Box will take him to a spot where the Big Boo appears and will chase Mario towards the door that leads out to the Flagpole.

  • Star Medal 2: At the Midway flag, go to the Bottom right and destroy the cardboard pipe to reveal a real pipe.
  • Star Medal 3: After the Warp Box, there will be a Star Medal.

World 4-5

The final level before the Airship, World 4-5 is based around the Green 1 Panels. Mario has only a short period of time before the platforms will disappear so he'll need to move quickly. There is a line of coins on the second set of Green Panels and a Bommerang Bros. that is waiting for Mario at the top, as well as a Mystery Box. Using more of the panels, Mario can make his way towards the Warp Box that takes him to the Midway Flag. From here, Mario will make his way through a more challenging path as the panels will get close to spike bars and Mario will need to avoid them and the Bee enemies that are flying around so he can get to the moving platform that takes him to another Warp Box. This Warp Box will take Mario to one final area with a Boomerang Bros. and more Green Panels. One set of Green Panels will take Mario to some Blue Timers, while the other takes him to a Warp Box that leads him to the Flagpole.

  • Star Medal 1: After the Mystery Box, using the two green panels to create platforms to reach the Star Medal.
  • Star Medal 2: Before entering the second Warp Box, the Star Medal is behind it.
  • Star Medal 3: After the Warp Box, using the Green Panels to the left, it will take Mario to a platform with the Star Medal.

[edit] World 4-Airship

Airship

Mario starts off on the start of the Airship with a Question Block. He will need to use the Reversible Platforms to venture further on the Airship while avoiding wrenches from the Rocky Wrench. He will make it to the next Airship with a Super Leaf in a Question Block before he has to avoid the rolling spike bars to jump down the small pit to continue the level. He will have to make his way back to the top of the ship while avoiding the Rocky Wrench that throws Bob-ombs. Using the Reversible Platforms one last time in the level, they will take Mario to a pink Airship with a Warp Pipe to the boss.

Pom Pom is the boss of the Airship. She is similar to Boom Boom though she will use a Boomerang to attack Mario instead of trying to swing her arms at him. When Mario jumps on her, she will retreat in her shell and jump in the air and try to crush Mario. Mario will need to repeat the process two more times before he defeats her and has access to the Flagpole.

  • Star Medal 1: At the start of the level after the first Rocky Wrench.
  • Star Medal 2: After therolling spike bars there is a trail of coins leading down with the Star Medal at the bottom.
  • Star Medal 3: Will be on a Reversible Platform on the Blue Side near a Boomerang Bros.
