World 2 is the second World in Super Mario 3D World. This World is desert theme that has sand structures scattered throughout the World Map. The World contains five main courses, one Enemy Blockade course, a Mystery House, and a Castle Course. There are also other things in the World, such as a Sprixie House, which gives you a Stamp, Question Blocks, 1-Up Mushrooms, a Slot Machine, and Toad Houses. Boom Boom serves as the boss of this World, and defeating it will free the Yellow Sprixie Princess, who will create a Clear Pipe that leads to World 3.

[edit] World 2-1, Conkdor Canyon

Conklor Canyon

Conklor Canyonis the first course of World 2 in Super Mario 3D World. This stage is set at a desert that's filled with quicksand, spring panels, and shifting platforms. The common enemy in this course is the Conkdor, which makes their first appearance in this game. After passing one of the Conkdors, you can use the Super Bell to climb up the green block, then climb further up the structure to reach the Gold Warp Pipe. Inside, is a Gold P Switch, which will release tons of coins for you to grab. At the end of the course, you must carefully cross more of the shifting platforms. Clearing the course will open the path to both World 2-2, Puffprod Peaks and World 2-3, Shadow-Play Alley.

[edit] Green Stars Location

  • Green Star 1: The Super Bell is required to obtain the first Green Star. Simply use the Cat Suit to climb up the first wall at the beginning of the course to reach the Star.
  • Green Star 2: You'll notice a Conkdor surrounded by four grey blocks. Don't defeat it, but have that enemy break the right most grey block, which will reveal a Green Star.
  • Green Star 3: Near the end of the course, defeat the Conkdor that's attacking Captain Toad. Saving Captain Toad will reward you with the final Green Star.

Puffprod Peaks

Puffprod Peaks is the second course of World 2 in Super Mario 3D World. This course is optional that requires 15 Green Stars to access. It is a cosmic level that consists of platforms that require you to use the Gamepad to activate them. Some of the platforms involving touching the screen to pull them out, while others involve blowing into the Gamepad's built in mic. The main enemies in this course are the Piranha Plants. Completing this course will allow access to World 2-4, Really Rolling Hills.

  • Green Star 1: You'll reach a wall of 'pull out' blocks you have to use to make it to the next area above. While climbing up, make your way to the left sliding block that's second from the top. Then wall jump and grab the first Green Star.
  • Green Star 2: In the section where you have to blow onto the Gamepad to move the platforms, make your way to the cloud, which sends you to the Coin Heaven. In there, you'll eventually reach the second Green Star.
  • Green Star 3: You'll reach a section when you must pull out three blocks. Jump on the third block and blow to reveal a platform below the pull out block. Drop to that platform and you'll be taken to the final Green Star.

Near the beginning, you see two sets of platforms, which require you to interact with the Gamepad. Lift the second platform up to reveal a hole. Head inside and grab the stamp.

Shadow-Play Alley

Shadow-Play Alley is the third course of World 2 in Super Mario 3D World. This stage takes place in the building and the main gimmick of this course are the shadows. For the majority of the course, you must rely on controlling your shadow to reach the end. The common enemies in this course are the Piranha Plants, who appear in various sizes. Completing this course will allow access to World 2-4, Really Rolling Hills.

  • Green Star 1: You'll reach the shadow of the first Green Star. Walk towards the camera and it will pan out, revealing the star.
  • Green Star 2: After you get through the first shadow area, you'll see a group of pink enemies in the wall. Use the Piranha Plant to eat the enemies. You'll uncover a Mystery Box. In the next room, hit the P Switch and collect the Green Star.
  • Green Star 3: Near the end, is a hidden area which reveals Captain Toad being afraid of a cardboard Bowser. Break the cardboard and you'll be rewarded with the final Green Star.

In the shadow area, you'll see the stamp below the platform the large Piranha Plant is sitting on. Use the Super Bell to attack the walls next to the stamp to reach it.

Really Rolling Hills

Really Rolling Hills is the fourth course in Super Mario 3D World. This course takes place in a grassy field that's filled with rolling hills. There are a fair amount of areas on this course, which you can only access, using the Super Bell. Finally, there's an underground section near the midpoint of this course, which you must get through. The most common enemies of this course, are the Galoombas, who can also travel through the Clear Pipes to reach you. Clearing this course will allow access to the Enemy Blockade course, World 2-A, Big Galoomba Blockade.

  • Green Star 1: After going inside the first Clear Pipe, climb the wall to reach the first Green Star.
  • Green Star 2: In the underground section, look for the Green Warp Pipe on the lower level. Inside, light up all of the floor tiles by running over them. The second Green Star will appear as a result.
  • Green Star 3: Immediately afterwards, drop between any of the 3 circular platforms. Below you'll see the final Green Star before the exit Warp Pipe.

Near the beginning, you'll see a switch, which only Mario can step on. Touch the switch and the stamp will appear.

Big Galoomba Blockade

Big Galoomba Blockade is the second Enemy Blockade course, which is encountered in World 2 of Super Mario 3D World. You are on a square, rocky platform surrounded by lava and must simply defeat the three Galoombas to move on to the next course, World 2-5, Double Cherry Pass. You'll also earn a Green Star for completing this Enemy Blockade.

Double Cherry Pass

Double Cherry Pass is the fifth course of World 2 in Super Mario 3D World. The majority of the course has the player making their way through the numerous pink hills. The Double Cherry item makes its debut in the game on this course, which enables a player to create a replicas of themselves. When taking damage, that particular clone will disappear. The common enemies of this course are the Blocksteppers, who always appear in groups, although there are other enmies such as Fire Bros and Galoombas. Clearing this course will allow access to World 2-Tank, Bowser's Bullet Bill Brigade.

[edit] Green Stars Location

  • Green Star 1: Right before the first Clear Pipe, break open the crates on the right, to reveal the first Green Star.
  • Green Star 2: The Double Cherry item is required for the second Green Star. You'll reach two switches that you must step on simultaneously. Make it to this point with at least one clone and stand on the two switches to reveal the second Green Star. If playing on multiplayer, simply have one person stand on one switch and another on the second switch.
  • Green Star 3: The Double Cherry is also required for the final Green Star. Near the end, you'll see a platform with the number '4' on it. You need to make it to that point with 3 clones and have all of them stand on that platform, which will activate and take you to the final Green Star.

After the checkpoint, use one of your clones to jump on top of the far left question block. Use another clone to hit that same block from underneath, repeatedly. This will cause the block that the clone is standing on to rise and will eventually raise high enough to grab the Stamp.

[edit] World 2-Tank, Bowser's Bullet Bill Brigade

World 2 Castle

Bowser's Bullet Bill Brigade is the Castle of World 2 in Super Mario 3D World. This is an auto-scrolling course that consists of the players progressing through a series of tanks, which can launch Bullet Bills at you. This course introduces the Cannon Boxes, which allow the player to launch cannon balls. The Blocksteppers are the main enemies for this course, although there are a few fiery Piranha Plants. At the end, you'll reach the Warp Pipe sending you to the boss room, where you'll encounter Boom Boom.

Boom Boom

Boom Boom's boss fight plays out similarly to the battles of previous games. One of his attacks include flailing his arms, as he moves towards you. He will also perform a spinning propeller-like attack. You must damage him by jumping on top of him. After attacking him, he will spin inside of his shell. Boom Boom has a new ability, allowing him to turn invisible, which he only activates each time he moves while inside his shell. Jump on him three times to defeat him, thus clearing World 2 and freeing the Yellow Sprixie Princess. That princess will create a Clear Pipe leading to World 3.

  • Green Star 1: After passing the first set of tanks, you'll see the first Green Star guarded by a group of Piranha Plants. Defeat them and grab the star.
  • Green Star 2: During the second tank section, destroy the wooden crate on the second tank to reveal the second Green Star.
  • Green Star 3: The Cannon Box is required. Make your way to the end of the course and blast the wooden Bowser wall to gain access to the final Green Star.

You'll see the Stamp in the second Tank section on the platform above. Break the crates nearby and use the platform that you now have access to, in order to reach the Stamp.

[edit] World 2-Mystery House, Mystery House Melee

Mystery House Melee

Mystery House Melee is the first Mystery House you will encounter in Super Mario 3D World. You must complete a set of challenges within 10 seconds to move on. There are five challenges to complete in this Mystery House, each requiring you to defeat a set of enemies. Completing each challlenge will earn you a Green Star. If you fail any of the 5 challenges, you will be able to keep the Green Stars that you've earned, but you must repeat all of the challenges regardless to collect the remaining ones.

  • Green Star 1: Defeat the two Galoombas.
  • Green Star 2: Defeat the two Koopa Troopas.
  • Green Star 3: Defeat the two Cat Suit Goombas, one which drops a Super Bell.
  • Green Star 4: Defeat the four Conkdors.
  • Green Star 5: Defeat the two Fire Bros.
