[edit] Character Bio

Toad is a character introduced in Super Mario Bros. In every castle, other than the final one, Toad would deliver the famous line "The princess is in another castle". Toad received a playable role in Super Mario Bros. 2, as the slowest but strongest of the four playable characters. Toad has appeared in almost every Mario game to date.

In a way, he acts as Princess Peach's Personal Servant. They don't really do any major work, but you can see them as guards, and other various jobs throughout the castle, in Paper Mario, and the like. He also takes the role of the hero in "Wario's Woods" for the NES, and later for the SNES. Toads are stronger than they look and are quite capable of defending the princess, but she still gets kidnapped with disturbing regularity.

Toad also refers to a species of characters. Some notable Toads include Toad himself, Toadette, Toadsworth, Ala-Gold and Bucken-Berry.

Toad would not be a playable character in Mario Tennis Open but instead he would be one of the key referees in the game as he will sit at the referee's chair. During the tutorial part of the game, he will explain the controls of the game to the player. He would also run the clubhouse part of the game where the player is able to customize their Mii character. A costume could also be unlocked for the Mii after collecting a total of 50,000 coins. A tennis racket could also be purchased at the shop.
