[edit] Story
In the land of Sarasaland. The princess Daisy, has been kidnapped by the evil alien Tatanga. Mario has to rescue her, and he must traverse through 4 worlds in order to rescue the princess.
[edit] Gameplay
The gameplay is much similar to that of Super Mario Brothers. You once again are in control of Mario as your objective is to rescue Princess Daisy from the evil Tatanga.
Mario's primary attack is his Jump ability. Some enemies will not be defeated from the jump attack though. The Super Mushroom and Fire Flower return in this game. Though in Super Mario Land, the Fire Flower allows you to shoot "superballs" which can ricochet off the walls, floor and ceiling. Superballs can also help you collect coins where you can't reach them.
There are four worlds in Super Mario Land with 12 levels altogether. When you reach the end of the level there will be a tower with a top and bottom exit. If Mario reaches the upper exit, then he will enter a bonus level where a player can win a power-up by climbing down certain ladders. If you go through the bottom exit, then you end the level without a bonus level and go onto the next level. After the third level, Mario will have to face a boss by battling or touching the point behind the boss.
