First Appearance

Shadow Mario debuted appeared in Super Mario Sunshine where he was corrupting Isle Delfino with Graffiti. He looks like Mario which leads to everyone on the island thinking it was him making the island dirty. After the player gets 10 stars, Shadow Mario appears and takes Peach away and after completing the first mission on Pinna Park he will head to Corona Mountain. He appears at random points at the game including the seventh mission of every level. After completing the first mission of Pinna Park, at the end of the cutscene he reveals that he is Bowser's son, Bowser Jr.

Other Appearances

Shadow Mario also appears as a playable character in the game Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, and in Super Mario Galaxy, a minor character called Cosmic Mario appeared who looked similar to Shadow Mario. He only appears in four galaxies only when the cosmic comet is in orbit and only then he races against you to the star.
