A plant found on the ground or hidden in Warp Pipe. When a Piranha Plant is in a Warp Pipe, it is refereed to as a Piranha Pipe. Piranha Plants are red with white spots and have green lips, their stems are also green and have spines on them. The only way to defeat a Piranha Plant is with a Power Star or Fire/Ice Flower.

[edit] Super Mario 3D Land

Piranha Plants appear in Super Mario 3D Land. They would act similar to they do in the Super Mario Galaxy series. A new variation of them would be introduced called Inky Piranha Plants which spit ink at the 3DS screen when Mario gets close to them.

The Piranha Plant is set to appear in New Super Mario Bros. 2. A golden variant of them appear in the game as well and look to do the same thing as a regular Piranha Plant.

[edit] Mario Kart Series

Piranha Plants would appear in the Mario Kart Series as obstacles. They would first appear on Choco Islands in Super Mario Kart. They would sit on the track as an obstacle and when a player runs into them, the player will spin out.

They would return in Mario Kart 64 with a new look. They would appear in Mario Raceway and Royal Raceway. These Piranha Plants would be sitting on the ground and look to move their lips up and down.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!! would seem them appear on Mario Circuit and Yoshi Circuit. They would return in their pipe and when a driver gets near, they will attempt to bite the driver. When hit, they will flip over and the thrower would end up being dragged behind the kart. Piranha Plants can however be stunned by a projectile item like a Green Shell.

The Mario Kart Arcade GP and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 games would see them be used as a special item for Princess Peach. They would eat the items of other players when they are summoned by Peach.

In Mario Kart DS, they would be seen on Mario Circuit and Choco Island 2. They would sit and shoot fireballs at the drivers.

Mario Kart Wii would introduce a kart called the Piranha Prowler and be based off of Petey Piranha more than the Piranha Plant.

Mario Kart 7 would have a track called Piranha Plant Slide and would see large versions of the Piranha Plant appear.
