[edit] Paper Mario
The very first game in the series is Paper Mario which was released back in 2000 for the Nintendo 64. It is a turn based fighting/adventure game where Princess Peach as been kidnapped by Bowser. Mario must then set out to rescue her. The game was going to be called Super Mario RPG 2 but was changed to Paper Mario.
[edit] Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is the second Paper Mario game in the series released for the GameCube in 2004. It keeps to the roots of the original Paper Mario with the turn based battling and 3D adventure. Princess Peach is again kidnapped this time by Grodus. Grodus wants to bring about the end of the world so Mario must stop him.
[edit] Super Paper Mario
Super Paper Mario is the third installment in the Paper Mario Series, and the first for the Nintendo Wii. It is set up very similar to the other two games except it's a full 2D title. Players have the option to switch into 3D mode to explore but it's only for a limited time. Also this game lacks the turn based battle system which was the root of the previous two games. In this game Mario has switched to real time battling. The story line is very similar to Paper Mario: The Thousand Door in respect to the fact that the world could end again. This time however it is Count Bleck instead of Grodus running the show. Mario and pals must again set out to save the world.
[edit] Paper Mario: Sticker Star
Paper Mario: Sticker Star is the latest Paper Mario game of the series for the Nintendo 3DS. Based on the trailers and screenshots it's going to head back to turn based style battling like the first two games. It's also going to have 3D landscapes like the first two games as well. It is set to be released November 11, 2012 in North America. This game will be the first to feature Stickers for attacks, and is the first in the series to lack partners.
