[edit] Effects
[edit] New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii
In these games, a standard mushroom is called a Super Mushroom and boosts the player's size. If they get hit by an enemy, they shrink.
There is also more mushrooms, such as a 1-up Mushroom (Boosts life), the Mega Mushroom (Makes Mario or Luigi massive and can destroy anything, but was taken out in the Wii edition) and the Mini Mushroom (Makes Mario or Luigi tiny and can jump higher and enter small pipes).
[edit] Mario Kart Series
In the Mario Kart series Mushrooms are red and boost the Players speed for a short time. This can be used to cut across grass, take shortcuts, dodge Blue Shells and just pass by players. They also come in a three (Triple Mushroom) and the Golden Mushroom which allows a lot of boosts in a small amount of time.
In more of the recent Mario Kart games, they can be used to knock aside other players and even steal an item from the opponent after coming in contact. It can also be used to steal balloons, Shine Sprites, or Coins from other players in battle mode.
[edit] Mario Party series
In the Mario Party series, this red Mushroom will give the player 2 Dice Blocks for that turn. It has been a staple of the series since the very first Mario Party. The Mushroom is often used to get to the Star space quicker or some other important area of the board. Mario Party 4 was the only game this item didn't appear in within the Mario Party series.
[edit] Super Smash Bros. series
The Super Mushroom appears as one the usable items within the series. These act more like the Mega Mushroom from New Super Mario Bros.. The items last for a limited of time and during that time, they can cause more damage to the opponent and they are more resistant to being knocked out.
There's also a Poison Mushroom, which makes the character smaller, does less damage to the opponent and makes them less resistant to being knocked out.
[edit] Paper Mario Series
[edit] Paper Mario
The Mushroom is one of the main healing items in Paper Mario. When it is used, it will restore 5 HP. Several Mushroom variations would appear in the game like the Life Shroom, or Super Shroom.
[edit] Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
They would return in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door with the same appearance and effect as the previous game. Though they will also heal the partners HP as well. Many of the old mushroom variations would return in this game but the Slow Shroom would make its first appearance in this game.
[edit] Super Paper Mario
Mushrooms could only be found in ? Blocks in Super Paper Mario.
