Metal Mario is a character featured in many different games, be it in the Mario series or not. He is one of Mario's many different forms. However, Mario can only access this form by using a Metal Cap.

Metal Mario's first appearance was in Super Mario 64 when he needed to walk underwater to reach an area jutting off of a wall in Hazy Maze Cave. Since then, he has appeared in many different games, such as Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Mario Golf.

In Super Mario 64 DS, Wario is the only one who can access a metal form, but he does it through a Power Flower. It is used in the same style that Metal Mario was used.

In the Super Smash Bros. Series, Metal Mario often appears as an antagonist. For example, he appeared as an enemy in everybody's Adventure Mode near the end of the adventure, at Battlefield. Every character in all of these games can access their metal form through a Green ! Box.

As expected, Metal Mario weighs much, much more than Mario. In fact, Mario automatically sinks, and is able to walk on the ocean bottom, when he is in his metal form. He is also not able to jump as high as he normally could, but about half of that. This is seen in both Super Mario 64 and the Super Smash Bros. Series. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metal fighters sink much quicker than they normally would on the Isle Delfino stage.

Metal Mario would appear in Mario Tennis Open. He is one of the QR downloadable characters and is a Power type character. The player can unlock a Metal Mario Tennis Racket for the Mii character for 1,750 coins.
