[edit] Background

Luigi is known as the younger brother and side-kick of Mario. Luigi first appeared in the arcade game Mario Bros., where he was featured as the main character alongside Mario. Since his debut, Luigi has appeared in many games throughout the Mario series. These include sports games, puzzle games, fighting games, and racing games. He is often a secondary playable character in the main series Mario games. Luigi has as well starred in his own games such as Mario is Missing and Luigi's Mansion, where Luigi has to rescue Mario from a cast of colorful spooks, Luigi's greatest fear. It has been thought that Luigi and Daisy are in love with each other, and has been assumed so through a statue of the two frolicking together in Mario Kart Wii. Originally a palette swap of Mario, Luigi later gains abilities and a personality of his own.
