The Lakitu Orb was originally called the Lakitu Capsule in Mario Party 5 and, after being a no show in Mario Party 6, it returned in Mario Party 7 as the Lakitu Orb. In Mario Party 5, when a player landed on a space containing the capsule, they could choose a player for Lakitu to take a capsule from. If the targeted player had two or more capsules, then the capsule stolen by Lakitu is randomly determined. After a hiatus in Mario Party 6, it returned in Mario Party 7 as the Lakitu Orb as a board-special Orb. It only appears on the Neon Heights board map and it costs 15 coins to buy from an Orb Shop. When used, Lakitu would take a treasure chest being guarded by Koopa Kid, allowing you to open it for free. However, it would not always be the chest containing the Star or coins as it could end up being the one holding the Bob-omb.
