 Game History
The Fire Flower first appeared in the 2D Mario platformer Super Mario Bros. It would appear out of a ? block when Mario or Luigi jump and hit it. They must have obtained a mushroom however and become Super Mario or Super Luigi first before they can obtain the Fire Flower. It allows both Mario and Luigi to shoot fire balls at enemies in the course, it will defeat most enemies except a few. It later appeared in the other titles Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World where it`s roles are the same.
The the Fire Flower again occurred in both the 2D titles for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii. Again it is the exact same thing, it can appear out of a ? block when Mario hits one, and as before Mario must be Super Mario to find the Fire Flower. Again it allows Mario or Luigi to shoot fireballs at enemies encountered along the way.
The Fire Flower appears for the first time in a 64 title Super Mario Galaxy it will a little while later make yet another being Super Mario Galaxy 2. In this game the flower can be found just laying around on the ground in certain areas, Mario may have to complete a task first to make it appear sometimes. So same as before when Mario obtains the flower he will be able to shoot fire balls at the enemies. However in this game the Fire Flower is needed to advance through certain parts of levels instead of just taking out enemies, which it also can be used for. Such as in certain galaxies Mario must use the flower to light torches which than opens doors allowing him to progress. The catch is that in both this game and Super Mario Galaxy 2 the Fire Flower is on a timer. Thus sometimes making it hard to get to the torches and light them before the flower wares off. It also appears in the game for use of just defeating enemies.
The Fire Flower is exactly the same in Super Mario Galaxy being on a timer. It is rarer however and is not used as often, again in this game it is needed to progress sometimes. Overall it is a very common and much used power up.
The Fire Flower is appears in Super Mario 3D Land. They would retain the same functions as the 2D Mario games and unlike the Super Mario Galaxy games, Mario will keep the Fire Flower abilities until Mario takes a hit or loses a life or picks up a new power-up like the Super Leaf or Boomerang Flower
 Mario Kart Series
The Fire Flower would not appear as an item in the Mario Kart Series until Mario Kart 7 where it could be obtained from the Item Box. When used, it will allow the player to throw several fireballs in front of them, or behind them. And when it hits another player, it will cause them to spin out and drop a Coin. It lasts only ten seconds or after ten fireballs have been used.
 Paper Mario Series
|Appearances||Paper Mario,Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door|
Fire Flowers would appear in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It can be found in many shops in both games or enemies may drop the item. When it is used, it will attack all enemies in the battle and do three damage to each of them. They also could be used for making some recipes in the games. They would be replaced by the Fire Burst in Super Paper Mario.
The Fire Flower would be one of the five Chance Shots that appear in Mario Tennis Open. When it is activated, by pressing X or Y, the player will create a flaming shot and if the opponent hits this shot, they can be pushed back drastically.
