Dry Bowser is a character that was first introduced to the Mario Series in World 8 of New Super Mario Bros., as the resurrected skeleton of Bowser. He was accidentally created when he was defeated in the first castle of the game when he was dropped into a pit of lava. This would leave Bowser Jr. in command of the Koopa Troop until he return.

He would later make an appearance as an unlockable driver for Mario Kart Wii, as a large-sized character. He would also appear in the Mario & Sonic games and have a howl that can be heard in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games when they face him in Ice Hockey.

Dry Bowser in New. Super Mario Bros.

Bowser becomes Dry Bowser in New Super Mario Bros. after he falls into the lava and burns up. When Mario faces him in World 8, he has to dodge his fireballs and him throwing his bones until he makes a high jump that allows Mario to run under him and hit the Skull Switch. This will destroy the bridge and throw him into a deep put until he hits the ground and his body falls apart. Shell Mario can defeated him by performing the Shell Dash three times on him and Mega Mario can defeat him with one stomp. Fireballs from Fire Mario do not harm him.

In the last battle of the game, the bones of Dry Bowser are thrown into a cauldron and will turn him back into his original form but larger.

He is good with off-road(tied with Toadette) and mini-turbo(tied with Wario, Koopa Troopa, and Dry Bones), which helps make the karts Flame Flyer and Phantom much better to use.
