Donkey Kong is an arcade game made by Nintendo in 1981 and directed by Shigeru Miyamoto. It was the first game starring Mario, and the first game to have jumping in it. It was also the first game ever that Miyamoto directed. The game was a big success, and has become very prolific to this day.

The game follows Mario (originally named Jumpman), who in this game is a carpenter. The main villain is Donkey Kong, who kidnaps Mario's girlfriend, Pauline, and climbs atop a building with her. Mario has to reach the top and rescue Pauline.
