Coins are in almost every Mario game and have different preposses in each game. In Paper Mario games, for example, Coins are a form of money; while in Super Mario games (Such as Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy) it is a form of healing. They are also sometimes the key to unlocking bonuses and different modes in some games, while having other meanings in other games. For the most part, however, they are either money or healing, or sometimes both.
