The Bob-omb Orb was first introduced in Mario Party 5. In Mario Party 5, once the Orb was placed on the board, it would not activate until 3 people had either passed it or landed on the space. As the 3rd person passes it, a Bob-omb would suddenly come down and blow up in the victim's hands. This would cost the player, and anyone else currently on the space, 20 coins. In Mario Party 6, it became a roadblock Orb. The player that passes the space next will be blown up by a Bob-omb, cutting the number of remaining spaces the player has left to move in half. The Bob-omb Orb returned to Mario Party 7 as a special Orb that only appeared on the board Pagoda Peak. It was still a roadblock Orb that would blow up on the first player that passes it once it was put down on the board. However, instead of cutting the amount of remaining spaces in half, it would send the victim down to a lower level of the board. The effects of this Orb could be averted in Mario Party 6 and Mario Party 7 if the player is under the effect of a Metal Mushroom Orb.
