|Star Missions|| Big Bob-Omb on the Summit|
Footrace With Koopa The Quick
Bob-omb Battlefield is the first world in Super Mario 64. The painting for the level is of a Bob-Omb and it can be found on the first floor of Princess Peach's castle on the left. It requires no stars to get into. Bob-omb Battlefield takes place on a grassland filled with many trees and several mountains that you can climb. Bob-omb Battlefield introduces Goomba, Koopas and Chain Chomp. This would be Chain Chomps only appearance in the game. When you first enter the level, you will be told about being in the middle of a battle between the Bob-omb Buddies and the Black Bob-omb.
Star 1: Big Bob-Omb on the Summit
The very first level of Super Mario 64 is quite simple. Mario has to climb the summit of the mountain to fight the Big Bob-Omb who is awaiting him at the top of the level. Big Bob-Omb is the first boss of the game and an easy one at that. Mario has to follow the path that starts at the beginning of the level. It will lead you through a few obstacles including Goomba, Chain Chomp and Koopas. As well as random water balloons that fall from the sky and big metal cannonballs that roll down the summit. When Mario reaches the summit, he will meet the Big Bob-omb who will share a few words before the battle. To beat Big Bob-Omb, Mario needs to get behind him and pick him up and throw him. Doing this three times will beat him and you will be rewarded with a Power Star.
If you throw Big-Bob-Omb off the top of the summit, he will come back and Mario will have to start over.
Star 2: Footrace With Koopa The Quick
To collect the second star of Bob-omb Battlefield, Mario has to race an oversize Koopa Troopa called Koopa The Quick. Mario has to reach the flag before the Koopa the Quick and the flag is located at the top of the summit where you faced the Big Bob-Omb for the first star. Following the same path as you did for the first star should get you there first. Koopa the Quick cannot go across the wooden bridge so he will try to go up the white hill that Mario cannot go up. If you use one of the cannon, Koopa the Quick will refuse to give you the star and you will need to start over.
In this mission, you can open the cannon which you couldn't do in the first mission because the Pink Bob-ombs where shooting water balloons at the Black Bob-ombs.
Star 3: Shoot to the Island in the Sky
To get the Third Power Star of Bob-omb Battlefield, the player will need to have opened the cannons. To open the cannons, Mario will need to talk to the Pink Bob-omb at the start of the level who is standing beside the cannon. You can only open the cannons after you completed the first mission.
Once you have opened the cannon, Mario will need to shoot to the floating island in the sky. The floating island can be found near the mountain. Shooting from the cannon at the start of the level will not get you there but the cannon below the island can. Aiming above the tree will be the easiest for getting Mario onto the island. Once you are on the island, all you nee to do is hit the ! Block and the Power Star will appear!
Star 4: Find The 8 Red Coins
To get the Fourth Power Star, Mario will need to collect the 8 Red Coins which are scattered across Bob-omb Battlefield. The Red Coins are located:
- The first one is located on the moving platforms on the main path.
- The next is on a small hill near the Chain Chomp and Goombas.
- One is on the stump of Chain Chomp.
- Two are near the Star Marker that is surrounded by 4 stumps.
- One is near the ! Switch.
- One is on the slope of the mountain.
- One is on the tree on the floating Island.
When Mario collects all 8 Red Coins, the Power Star will appear on the Star Marker that is surrounded by 4 stumps.
Star 5: Mario Wings to the Sky
In order to get this Power Star, the player will need the Wing Cap. You will first need to collect 10 Power Stars and look up at the beam of light in the main room of Princess Peach's Castle.
Mario will need to get onto the floating island to do this and be wearing the wing cap. Mario has to fly through the five rings of coins and collect all five middle coins of each ring to make the Power Star appear. The Power Star will appear near the Star Marker. It is possible to go through all of the rings without the wing cap but it will take much longer to complete as you will need to get back on the floating island each time.
Star 6: Behind Chain Chomp's Gate
The sixth Power Star is located behind the bars near the Chain Chomp. To get rid of the bars, you will need to Ground Pound the stump of the Chain Chomp three times. When it is freed, the Chain Chomp will break the bars and Mario can collect the Power Star.
 Collecting 100 Coins
Collecting 100 coins in Bob-omb Battlefield should not be that hard. There are 146 coins in total on the level. It is usually best to collect 100 coins after you have opened the cannon and have the Wing Cap. Here are a few hints for collecting coins:
- Getting All 8 Red Coins. These are worth 2 coins, making the total 16 coins once you have collected them all.
- Beating All Enemies. Each drop at least 1 coin when beaten.
- 45 Coins Are in the Air
- Beating the Koopa gives you a blue coin worth 10 coins.
- Running Around Every Stump gives you 5 coins. There is 5 stumps so there's 25 coins.
